Not every sailing journey starts on the water. Whether you’re flying in to meet up with a boat, laying low while your yacht’s on the hard, or catching your breath between passages, this is for you. Sailor’s Stopover is a collection of honest, useful reviews of places to stay that won’t blow your budget.

Review of Sailor’s Beach

Getting there

Nadi International Airport entrance on a sunny day

Nadi International Airport is only 17mins taxi away

Just 17 minutes from Nadi International Airport, Sailors Beach Fiji is one of the most convenient overnighting spots for transit around Fiji. It's a short taxi ride from the airport (I jumped in a fixed rate ride for FJ$30), plus it’s right on Wailoaloa Beach with it’s own cafe, bar and grill. It’s an easy one-stop stay.

So inviting

The vibe

I’m going with tropical, low-key, social, AND right on the beach. This is an ideal option for short stays (I did an overnighter before and after flying out of Nadi), or if you're between boats and don’t want to fork out for a nicer resort. The bar has good tunes — expect to hear music from your room, and possibly a late night on weekends. (I’m an early-to-bed kinda girl these days but I did notice the music volume went down after 10pm, and that was on a Friday so I’m not sure if that’s usual…)

Bunkbed accommodation with Bula welcome on the bed

A warm welcome to a hard mattress

The room situation

I stayed in one of the brand new all-female dorm rooms. It was clean, air-conditioned with a shared ensuite, and a personal locker for valuables. There’s a small bar fridge but no TV being a shared room (the other individual rooms do). Wi-Fi is limited to the 7ML Café area and you can pick up a free voucher code from reception. Personally, I found the new mattresses pretty hard so my sleep actually wasn’t super great (I was also WELL OVER-EXCITED about my trip, I mean FIJI!!!), but I was here for the location, not luxury. I did feel very welcomed with the lovely hand-laid leaf Bula message though!

The double-shot coffee and stuffed omelette are highly recommended

Yes please TO IT ALL

Good to know

  • Not the best beach for swimming, but epic for sunset walks and finding cool little shells

  • There’s a REFRESHING pool

  • Friendly staff who get that people are coming and going on boat schedules (late arrival for check in was all good)

  • The onsite 7ML Café coffee is VERY GOOD

In summary

If you're looking for a clean, enjoyable place to spend the night, and grab an early coffee before starting your next adventure, Sailors Beach is a solid stopover (and extra points for their name!).
